Good fit starts with the furniture.

This planner compares rectangular rugs against your measured room and furniture. It checks the space you want around the furniture and the exposed floor you want between the rug and each wall.

Dining rugs stay centered on the table. Living-room rugs cover your entire seating footprint. Bedroom rugs start at the head of the bed and extend along both sides and past the foot.

The suggested size is the smallest listed rug that meets your targets. These are planning guides: chair movement, doors, vents, nightstands and walking routes still need a real-room check.
